Mthembeni Ndevu better known as Emtee was birthed in Matatiele located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. He was birthed to a father recognised as Elias and a mother recognised as Anna. Both parents raised Emtee in Soweto, South Africa.

It was reported that Emtee married his childhood girlfriend Nicole Chinsamy in 2019. The marriage has produced three children so far (Two sons and a daughter). Emtee gave birth to his first son in 2015 and the son was named after his debut album Avery. His second son was birthed in 2018 and he name him Logan. He recently welcomed his third child named Nairobi.
